On Display II
‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven’ Matt.5:16 [KJV]
Your life can be a magnet that draws people to God or one that pushes people away from God. Is your life repelling people from Jesus or is your life advertising Jesus to people? We need to confront ourselves with this question. You and I need to do an internal check of our lives and check our behavior. Your life is one of the most significant gospels that can be preached. While in paid employment, I once worked in an organization where my unit was responsible for over 80% of the revenue of the whole organization and there were about four/five units. But my manager who was in charge of the relationships with our foreign partners, partners who had grown in respect for and in relationship with him over the years, resigned. When he resigned, top management decided that I could do the job. So I was given the offer and I accepted. Then my CEO called me in into his office and said ‘you know the relationship with these partners is so crucial to this organization. Tell the partners that he is still with us but has been posted to another department. When they get to know you and like you and you have grown in relationship with them, then tell them that he just resigned’. Isn’t that a very good plan? And that was certainly something I could do, right? But as I sat in my office it must have been God convicting me because I suddenly realized what I had agreed to. Your greatest asset is to cultivate the Presence of the Holy Spirit. When you have the presence of God, when you deviate, God will chastise you. If you are doing something wrong repeatedly and it is as if God is not correcting you, then you need to cry to God ‘why has thou forsaken me o God? I knew I could not do it and risk disappointing God. Again I chose to obey God by the grace of God. So I went back to the CEO, I told him I really couldn’t do what we had discussed because I am a child of God and I will not lie. I also told him that I believe that I could broker the relationship without lying and there will be no issues. First day on the job and I got walked out of the CEO’s office! But as God would have it, the relationships were not only maintained, they became far better. The revenue became far more than we ever recorded. Stop compromising, let your light shine.
Prayer: Father, please strengthen me daily to shine for You, in Jesus Name.
