Requisite Sacrifice

Genesis 12:⁷ “Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants.” And Abram built an altar there and dedicated it to the Lord, who had appeared to him.”

Hebrews 11:^17-19 “It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.” Abraham was not playing games. Abraham was not holding up the knife and saying, “God, can you see? Going, going, going, stop me, stop me.” There were no gimmicks, no games.

And in response to Abraham’s sacrifice God said in Genesis 22:^16-17 “And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies” (KJV). It is one thing for God to give you a promise; it is another thing for God to swear by that promise. Everything God is saying here, He had already promised Abraham. But at this point of sacrifice, the Bible says that since there was none greater, because the lesser vows or swears by the greater, God swore by Himself.

And I pray that you enter that level of favour with God in the Name of Jesus. I pray that by your level of sacrifice, giving, and obedience to God that you will enter that level, that place where God will swear by Himself. Some promises don’t come to fruition because people don’t give the requisite sacrifice that transitions the promise to a blessing. And it is the blessing that is backed by the oath that God takes. I pray that you will not only have the promises of God, that you will have the blessings of Heaven in the Name of Jesus.

A lot of times, people wonder where the magic, the breakthrough, the miracle is. But the question to you today is that is it possible that the magic that you are looking for in your life is found in the work that you are not doing? Is it possible that the blessings you are looking for are in the sacrifices you are not making? Is it possible by chance that the breakthroughs that you are looking for and yearning for are in the prayers you are not praying? Is it possible that the advancement you are looking for is hidden in the communities that you are not engaged in?

Prayer: Father, I ask for the wisdom, understanding, and courage to give the requisite sacrifice that transitions Your promise to me into a blessing, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
