Acknowledge IV
‘For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation’ Ps.100:5
The fourth thing that you and I must acknowledge is that He is good. This is very profound. You can own something and be mean to that thing. But God is not mean. God is good. Say it out loud – God is good all the time. The Lord is good. So you and I can approach God knowing that we are approaching a good God. We can come to God knowing that we are coming into the presence of a good God that made us and owns us, and He is God.
The fifth thing we need to acknowledge is that His goodness does not expire. He is good from generation to generation. People goodness to you can expire. People can like you now and after a while they no longer like you. Even people that are married, they fall in love – they like each other. Then after a while they want to get divorced, they don’t like each other anymore. But not Jesus, He is good forever. His goodness does not expire. Then come before Him with thanksgiving after you have acknowledged that He is God, He made us, He owns us, He is good, and His goodness does not expire. This just changes a whole lot of things, even your praise. You cannot really thank Him if you do not acknowledge Him. If you acknowledge that He made you, will you be posing in His presence? You have not acknowledged that He made you if you refuse to let go of who you think you are for who He is. If you are uncomfortable in the midst of people who are praising God exuberantly and childishly then you have not yet acknowledged that He is God and that He owns you. David said, ‘I will yet be childish before God, the God that chose me before your father’s house’. Acknowledge that He is God. Acknowledge that He made us. Acknowledge that He owns us. Acknowledge that He is good. Acknowledge that His goodness does not expire. His goodness is not dependent on how you feel. God is good all the time. Not God is good when I wake up on the right side of the bed. Not God is good when I am in a good mood. God’s goodness is reliable.
Then enter His gates with thanksgiving. Thanksgiving begins to make sense when you have acknowledged Him.
Prayer: Father, I acknowledge that You is God. I acknowledge that You made me. I acknowledge that You own me. I acknowledge that You are good and Your goodness does not expire. I declare that You are my God, in Jesus Name.
