God Confidence

‘David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him” 1 Sam.17:32 [NIV].

The conversation with Saul. The fourth conversation David had was with Saul. Saul sent for David, I am sure he was curious to find out who David was. And do you know the first thing David said when he got before Saul, David said Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine”. I just love David, don’t you? I mean this was the king of Israel; David was being introduced to the king, he didn’t fall on your face and roll on the floor. But the first thing he said is that nobody should loose sleep over this goliath because he is going to kill him. Guess what Saul said, “Don’t be ridiculous” [translated]. Read your Bible. The Scripture says that they that know their God will be strong and they will do exploits.

When you are confident in God, the Eliabs will conclude it is pride. The Sauls will conclude it is folly. He said, today I will cut of his head. And Saul looked at David, he didn’t even have a sword, he had nothing in his hands. “You will cut off his head, do you even know what you are saying? You are just a boy. Whereas goliath has been a warrior since he was a boy” [translated]. But David did something that is very remarkable in his conversation with Saul. David said to Saul, “Don’t look at me like that, I may be small but I have a very big God who is always by my side, a very big God by my side” [translated]. David said, “when I was keeping my father sheep and goat’ [translated]. Just imagine, they are talking about goliath and David is talking about keeping sheep and goat. Note; the word for you here is never underestimate your testimony of sheep and goat. The problem with a lot of us is that we write ourselves off. We say “What have I done, what will I put on my resume? I am looking for this job but I don’t even have the experience. All I have been keeping are sheep and goat. They are looking for people that are giant killers”. Never underestimate your testimony of sheep and goat. David proceeded to show Saul what God did through him while he was keeping the sheep and the goat. You need to realize that God knows where you are. He knows what you are doing. And regardless of where you are, He has prepared a promotion for you and you will get it in Jesus Name.

Prayer: I love You, Lord; You are my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my Saviour; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me and my place of safety [Ps.18:1-2], in Jesus Name.
