Checks And Balances II

‘When you have eaten your fill, be sure to praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you’ Deut.8:10

Be content with your spouse. He or she is your portion. Contentment will even help your intimacy because your spouse will be comfortable around you and not self-conscious. Your spouse will confidently know that he or she is accepted. But when all you can see is that he or she is getting fat then something is wrong. I am not saying we should not challenge ourselves to be healthy or even better. I am just saying be content. By the grace of God I am totally content. I know some of you are thinking “how can you not be content?” Contentment is a choice you have to make. You have to choose to be content. And by God’s grace, I have always been content. Be content with what you have. There has never been a time that I have said in my heart, I am not content with my wife, if only she can be this or that. Not one day. Is she perfect? No! Did I marry an angel? No! But contentment is a choice. You have to choose to be content. This is my lot in life. I was speaking with one of my colleagues some time back and he was sharing with me how good he feels to be debt free for the first time in his life and I rejoiced with him. I said to him that my wife and I have never been in debt. Did we have all the money in the world? No but we chose that everything that we need God will provide. Everything God doesn’t provide we don’t need at that time. So when we couldn’t afford to buy milk. Don’t be shocked; yes we couldn’t afford to buy milk. We believed that if we ate our breakfast with just water, God would bless it. So we ate our breakfast and drank water. Until you are content, you are not free. I share my own stories with you so that you know that if God can help me, He can help you. God is my source and He will provide for my needs. If I have a need I go to Him. What He provides I am grateful for. What has not been provided for yet, I am praying about. But in the mean time I am content.

“The rich think of their wealth as a strong defense; they imagine it to be a high wall of safety’ Prov.18:11. It is just their imagination. Do you know how much money you need to be satisfied? I can tell you it will always be more than you currently have at any given time. If you can understand what God is teaching you in this season, there is no amount of wealth that God cannot bring your way. People who love and trust money never have enough.

Prayer: Father, I thank You for all that You have provided for me thus far. Thank You for the grace to confidently wait on You for my daily bread, in Jesus Name.
