Compassionately So

“Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick” Matt.14:14.

Jesus heals with compassion. Everything Jesus did, He did out of compassion. Jesus did not heal condescendingly; He healed out of compassion. If you want to operate the gift of healing, you must unlock your heart of compassion. You want to lay hands on the sick and they will recover? When someone is in pain, does it break your heart? Does their challenge move you to act on their behalf? [Read Luke7:11-15]. Then so shall it be in Jesus Name. But one of the major keys to walking in the gift of healing, is a compassionate heart.

Jesus teaches with compassion. “Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many thingsMark 6:34. Jesus did not teach with arrogance even though He is all knowing. Sometimes you hear people teach and it is all about their pride, their ego, and how much grammar they know. It has nothing to do with compassion, or a desire for the people to really understand what they are teaching. Jesus teaches with compassion.

Jesus also feeds out of compassion. “Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the wayMatt.15:32 [KJV]. Jesus fed four thousand and another five people because He felt compassion. That tells me immediately that you cannot stay with Jesus and remain hungry. That is so comforting, especially for those of us who like food. Jesus can turn a stone into bread just so you will eat. I am not a proponent of the “materialism” of the prosperity gospel. I do not push that at all because I think it is wrong. However, I am convinced without any doubt that God wants you to prosper and that is just His nature [3 John 1:2]. It is difficult to stay with Jesus and remain hungry. He will feed you.

Jesus lives in us and He wants us to show and share His mercy with others. He wants His mercy to flow through us. How? In two main ways: firstly, He wants us to share His mercy by telling. Please read Mark 5:18. Jesus said to this man, go to your family and the man went to ten towns. It mattered enough to be recorded in scripture. Has God been merciful to you? Don’t keep it to yourself; Jesus wants you to tell of that goodness and mercy. He wants us to propagate it.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, give me opportunities daily to tell people everything the Lord has done for me and how merciful He has been to me, in Jesus Name.
