Manifest Who You Are
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” Ep.2:10
As a Pastor you have to work with different kinds of people, and believe me, human beings need Jesus. Some people are just too conflicted and it is borne out of not knowing who they are. You cannot afford to live your life taking every disagreement as rejection. At some point while Pastoring, we set a goal to start fifty new house fellowships at the same time. This move looked totally crazy. So one of my ministers then came to me and said even though he heard what I said but he does not think it would work. And he went on to give me his reasons why it was not going to work. How do you think I responded? I will start by telling you how I did not respond. I did not fight him, or see his reasons [disagreement] as a display of hatred targeted at me. I just laughed and I said, watch it work before your very eyes and I moved on. Guess what? We started fifty house fellowships to the glory of God alone. But for some people that will be the beginning of an uproar, pitching quarrels, rumors of rebellion, politicking, division, and all sorts of strange things because you do not know who you are. Someone disagrees with me, big deal! You are entitled to your own opinion. Time will tell who is right. Some times, when you are going to make a move people will call you crazy, no problem. But as God brings you into the fullness of His promise they will have to swallow their words. Some of those people telling you it would not work actually love you and are trying to save you from embarrassing yourself. So there is no point arguing, if you know who you are then just manifest who you are and please God.
“We’re not, understand, putting ourselves in a league with those who boast that they’re our superiors. We wouldn’t dare do that. But in all this comparing and grading and competing, they quite miss the point” 2 Cor.10:12. Before God’s Favourite Houses’ first service in our church premises, I went with a visiting colleague in ministry [a very wise man] to the property. We had to wear rain boots just to access the property and he asked, when did you say you will have service here? The following Sunday, I said and he did not say a word. On Monday morning after the projected Sunday service, he called to ask where we actually had service because he saw the state the land was in when he visited. When I told him it was on the land, he shouted. He said he thought I was a little crazy but did not bother so say anything because he too is a man of vision and understands how these things can work. It looked totally impossible but we know who we are and whose we are.
Prayer: Father, help me see everything You place before me from the place of knowing who I am and Who I am living to please, in Jesus Name.
