Ask, Obey, And Focus!

Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.  But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shoutedMatt.14:29-30

With God I am just like a child and you probably would laugh if you hear me praying. When people offend me, I just report them to God. A lot of people are probably thinking now that that is so childish, well that is the whole point. We need to deal with God as children. Children make bold request. A child is standing on the balcony of the first floor and asking his father who is downstairs should I jump, will you catch me? If the father says yes what do you think the child will do? He will jump! That is how bold our requests should be before God because we know that His everlasting arms can catch us. If you want to walk on water then be prepared to make bold requests.

The second thing you need to do is get out of the boat [obedience]. You cannot stay in the boat and walk on water. You have made the request and God has given you the nudge, then step out of the boat. Human beings do not just have the amazing ability to visualize things; they have the amazing ability to materialize things. You have prayed bold prayers now it is time to take bold steps. It is time to act boldly. There are many imaginative and intelligent paupers on the street. The word to describe them is genius but they remain poor and mediocre. Not because the system does not work but because many of them will not do what they should do to change the ideas they have into reality. And if you try to force them, you will become their enemy. But the word to you today is it is time you stop accepting you are less and start accepting that you can be more. Just get out of the boat! Jesus has said move, then move.

The third thing you do is keep your eyes on Jesus. Walking on water is peculiar because every step is a miracle that requires faith. You have taken one step and you are standing but guess what the next step is still going to be on water. So you really need to sustain that faith to keep it solid. Every step requires a miracle. What determines whether you swim or sink is based on your focus. The church is filled with people that are not perfect, we all are not perfect. But sadly some people are so fixated on other people’s errors. If you do that you will sink – guaranteed! In fact that is why some people are sinking. You need to change your focus to Jesus.

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to relate with You as a child and focus on You alone, in Jesus Name.
