Access Control I

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” Matt.16:19 [NIV]

A door is a form of access control; it allows the people that put the door there to control access into a room, a palace, a store, or the garage where the door is put. The door is a symbol of access control. If God wants you to open the door we can assume that you have the keys to the door because what is the value of having a door without a key. Having a door without a key is like building a house without a fence round it but putting a gate in front of the house. That does not make sense. If you are to open the door then you must have the keys to open the door. Jesus said to Peter, I give you the keys of the kingdom whatever you lock on earth shall be locked in the heavens.  If you give someone a key, you are giving the person the power to lock and open right? Jesus says to Peter, whatever you open on earth shall be opened in heaven. So we have the keys by the grace of God.

However for you to open that door, apart from having the keys to the door, you must also be willing to enter the door and exit another room. A door is usually at a point of transition from one room to another. If you are unwilling to walk through the door then why do you want to open the door? To open the door you have to be willing to exit certain things and be willing to enter into the unknown [if you will] of certain things. Peter was with the twelve in a boat and there was a huge storm. Peter saw the Door, Jesus, coming walking on water and Peter said to Jesus if you are the one say to me to come [Matt.14:26]. In other words, Peter was saying Jesus, you are the Door, if you want to give me access then tell me to come. Pay attention because you are about to enter into a new season in your life. You are about to enter into a season of abundance, of greatness, of integrity, and a season of holiness in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Jesus said come! Peter was willing to walk on water; Peter was willing to walk through The Door. Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water. What if Judas, Andrew, Thomas, and the rest had said Jesus me too. You know how children are, if you give one child something all the others will say me too. What do you think Jesus would have said? I believe He would have said Come! But instead perhaps Thomas said what is wrong with this Peter, what is the value of walking on water? Is there any value to it really? Can’t we just focus on getting to the other side? There are things in your life that even though you have the keys to change this season, your unwillingness to lose sight of the shore has prevented you from discovering the great things that God has for you.

Prayer: Father, fill me with the readiness I need to lose sight of the known and enter into the greatness You have set before me, in Jesus Name.
