Yoked I
“And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” Luke 13:12-13 [KJV]
It is not about the gift; it is about the giver. It is about Jesus. The problem with many people is they want Jesus to solve their problems but they want Him to stay out of their affairs. It is like saying, Jesus come and solve this problem but mind your business. But that is not what God wants. He wants to interfere. He wants to make your life better. He wants to take over your life. It is a deception that turning over your life to God is a loss. The truth is, it is a gain because there is no one that looked unto Him that is ashamed.
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” Matt.11:28. This is where a lot of us want to stop. You have come to Jesus carrying a heavy load and He says I will take the burden off you; I will break the yoke and give you rest. But Jesus knows that there can be no vacuum in the spirit. So if He just takes the burden and sets you free but leaves you alone, you be a sitting target.
So He says, “Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matt.11:29-30 [emphasis added]. A yoke is what is put on the neck of oxen to connect them together. So when two oxen are yoked together, they will go everywhere together. That is what it is to be yoked. Marriage is a yoke. I have been yoked for thirteen years. It is a yoke and whether you like it or not, you will have to go where the other person goes. Single people, you do not know how blessed you are.
For singles who desire this yoke of marriage, so shall it be! But never forget it is a yoke. It is a yoke meaning, no matter how fast you are, you are going to go at the pace of the slowest person. If you try to run faster, you will break your neck. What you do is, coach the person you are yoked to. If you can do a hundred kilometers per hour and the person can do ten kilometers per hour. Guess where you are going to start? You would both start at ten kilometers per hour. The ideal is you should not remain at that speed, you should increase your speed and not get slower.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I yoke myself to You. Lord teach me and help me find rest, in Jesus Name.
