Circle Average

“And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” Lu.13:13 [emphasis added]

You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Perhaps on the capacity scale of one to ten, you are a nine. But you keep hanging out with twos, fours and fives. After a while you will be two plus four plus five divided by three [(2 + 4 + 5) ÷ 3]. In other words, even though you are a nine, your output will be a three. Not because of you or what God has put in you, but because of who you are hanging out with. For some us of, the reason why we have those people in our circle is because they are your childhood friends, or you grew up together.

It is time to move on. Why? You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Intellectually, who are the people you spend time with? Are they high capacity thinkers? Or are they people you say things to repeatedly and they still do not get it? Financially, who are the people you spend time with?

Let me tell you how I solve this problem. A lot of people that are higher capacity than I am, are not easily accessible. I am able to meet a few of them perhaps once a year and that is not enough. So what I do is, I sit down with their books, their podcasts, and their messages. And by the time I am done, it is as if we just had a conversation. So I am actually hanging out with Bill Gates, sometimes I hang out with him for three hours in a week. I hang out with one entrepreneur whose monthly revenue is over two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. I listen to him for at least thirty minutes every day. And when I am done listening to him, it is as if we have just interacted over lunch. You may not be able to access them face-to-face but you can send them emails or tweets.

There are books that you should read but you are not reading. There are messages you should listen to but you are not listening to them. Today you will change in Jesus Name [Say Amen]. In God’s Favourite House, we practically give messages out for free. Some people take advantage of it but some others would not, even if you handed it to them personally. You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with.

Prayer: Father, I will be all that You have made me and called me to be. Lord, handpick the people that I hang out with , in Jesus Name.
