Cornerstones of Relationships
I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are My friends, since I have told you everything the Father told Me. John 15:15
Your relationship with God needs a lot of time and work. How you started out initially is not what will sustain you for the duration of your walk with God. You need to attain excellence by the strength of the Holy Spirit plus understand the role of competence, sacrifice, and devotion.
Competence: To learn about and understand God, we must be willing to spend quality time reading His Word. Devote time to examining the lives of people who have walked with, pleased, incurred wrath from and those who celebrated Him. You must be willing to go above and beyond in your walk with God, to be completely yielded to Him. God is expecting you to grow and this can only happen when you ‘seek God will all your heart’. Incompetence is the destruction of a lot of people because they do not know how to approach God. Opportunities will come for you to be tested; if you are not competent you will miss out of those opportunities.
Sacrifice: You must be willing to sacrifice your will for His will; your way for His way; your choice for His leading; and your life for His purpose. True sacrifice will take you to levels in your walk with God that you have never before imagined. Solomon was truly sacrificial and God came to him. There is a sacrifice that is waiting for you that only you can make. Jesus performed the ultimate sacrifice and He earned the Name above every other name. You have to give up so you can go up. God will not change laws to make sacrificing convenient for you. Make the sacrifice!
Devotion: Your devotion is to God and God alone. It is your acceptance of Christ and your walk with God that guarantees your eternity. You cannot succeed in your walk with God if you cannot hear him. What ever is blocking you from hearing God will be removed in Jesus name. God wants to fellowship with you, love you, and God will show you how to. Until you get to a place where the only thing that matters is God then you never really will find Him.
Prayer (Song): Show me Your way, that I may walk with you Show me Your way, I put my trust in you;
The cry of my heart is to love You Lord, to live with the touch of Your hand
Stronger each day, show me Your way.
