Audience of One

Gal. 1:¹⁰ “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ”  [with emphasis]

I choose a long time ago that only the approval of God will stand in my life. You cannot seek the approval of men and the approval of God at the sam

e time. What is it going to be – men or God? It is a choice you have to make, no one can do it for you. Choose to live your life for the audience of one – The One. Guess what? This One follows you everywhere. He is there with you when you are sitting at your desk, diving in your car, and surfing the Internet. The objective is not to scare you but for you to live for His approval.

When you are living for God, your life on the outside would be so powerful. As human beings, the opinions of men can hurt us. No matter how anointed you are, if your husband calls you ugly it is going to hurt. If your wife calls you a looser, you will be hurt. So I am not saying you should deny the hurt. However, while it is possible to be affected by people’s opinion, you do not have to be directed by it. Will you still be affected by the opinions of men? I am saying you can live above it.

The closer a person is to you, the deeper the hurt they can cause. However, the solution is not to build walls around your heart. You still have to be vulnerable to certain people. Certain people will hurt you, but God does not want that to direct you in everything you do. The last person you dated lied to you but it will be wrong to call every other person a lair.

Rom.8:³¹ “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Do not believe the lie that others must approve of you. You do not need the approval of others to be happy with yourself. The popular prayer by Lloyd Ogilvie reads: “Secure in God’s love, I will not surrender my self-worth to the opinions and judgments of others. When I am rejected, I will not retaliate; when I am hurt I will allow God to heal me. And knowing the pain of rejection, I will seek to love those who suffer from its anguish.” Prayerfully take this position also.

Prayer [song]: You are the reason I live,You’re the One for me (2x). Why should I fear when I have You? I’m surrounded by Your love, Your everlasting love. Why should I care what people say? They don’t know what You mean to me (2x). Amen!
