Sources of Storms III

‘Saul’s son Jonathan had a son named Mephibosheth… He was five years old when the report came… that Saul and Jonathan had been killed… When the child’s nurse heard the news, she picked him up and fled. But as she hurried away, she dropped him, and he became crippled’ 2 Sam.4:4

Storms can arise simply because we live in a broken and imperfect world. These sort of storms are not your fault or from the enemy [even though the enemy would be happy] but are circumstantial. In other words, such storms are built on the imperfection in the world. Mephibosheth did nothing wrong. Arguably what happened to him was not an enemy attack. He was being carried away to safety but in the process he was dropped and he became crippled. This young boy would have to live with this health storm for the rest of his life. The storm he was faced with happened just because the world is imperfect. You have just finished from a hard day at work and your plan is to get home, eat and rest. But you are faced with the storm of traffic. For some people, added to the traffic storm, they encounter armed robbers and all they have is taken from them. A woman forgets to lock her doors at the market and someone opens the back door and steals her baby. Students who never get to experience the practical aspect of their course of study simply because there is never power to run the workshop. Such students enter into the economy half-baked and even though they graduate with good results, no real engineering company wants to hire them because all they have is head knowledge. Such storms are a result of a broken and imperfect world. However, the one that watches over us neither sleeps nor slumbers. ‘Then I, myself, will be a protective wall of fire around Jerusalem, says the LORD. And I will be the glory inside the city!’ God is not only watching over us and protecting us but he is causing everything to work in our favour. ‘…God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God…’ Rom.8:28. Check, are you a lover of God? If the answer is yes, then picture God constantly at work in your favour. God is reordering things to make you perfect amidst all the imperfection.

Prayer: Father, thank You for causing all things to work in my favour. Thank You for perfecting, completing, establishing and settling me amidst all the imperfection, in Jesus Name.
