Battle Ready?

Exodus 17:10-11 “So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.” (NIV)

I am a student of military strategy (military warfare), and I have studied every documented battle in modern warfare. One thing that is consistent in warfare, particularly when the infantry was still being used, not now that drones and artificial intelligence are the order of the day. Read the rest of this entry

Priority

Exodus 17:11 “As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.”

Today we start by delving into Exodus 17:8-16 While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.  Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Read the rest of this entry

Proper Place

Exodus 17:9-10 “Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.” So Joshua did what Moses had commanded…” emphasis added).

Faith Check

Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith living within us it would be impossible to please God.  For we come to God in faith knowing that he is real and that he rewards the faith of those who passionately seek him.” (TPT)

When God shows up, God shows up! There have been many times that I have gone to God in prayer, taking my troubles and my prayer list to God. And by the time I burst in as if I am ushered in, all I can do most times is burst out in songs of worship and adoration. Read the rest of this entry

Get Ready

Exodus 34:5-6,8 “Then the Lord came down in a cloud… and he called out his own name, Yahweh… The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Moses immediately threw himself to the ground and worshiped”

Look

Psalm 14:2 “The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.”

Remember Joseph? Out of jealousy, his brothers threw him into a pit. You may look at your life right now and what best describes it is the word pit because of the ‘stench’ around you. Or perhaps there is a lot of confusion around you or even dirt. Read the rest of this entry

Cherished & Chosen

Psalm 40:2-3  “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed…”

By the grace of God, after at least twenty-six years of walking with God, I can say to you that I have not always been able to understand what God is up to. Read the rest of this entry

Remember

Deuteronomy 7:9 “So know that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God. He will keep his agreement of love for a thousand lifetimes for people who love him and obey his commands”. (NCV).

We see from Exodus 19:1-12 (please read) that the people came to a physical mountain. But in our case, we come to a spiritual mountain (Hebrews 12:18-24, please read). However, there are a few things we can learn by looking at their model. Read the rest of this entry

About Connections

1 Timothy 3:15 “I want you to know how people who are members of God’s family must live. God’s family is the church…” (GW, emphasis added).

The church connects you to God’s Family. And your number one responsibility to other members of your local church is to love other members of that church family. 1 Peter 2:17 “…Love the brothers and sisters of God’s family…” (NCV). Read the rest of this entry
