Step Up

Matthew 13:6&8 But when the sun came up, it burned the young plants; and because the roots had not grown deep enough, the plants soon dried up…  But some seeds fell in good soil, and the plants bore grain: some had one hundred grains, others sixty, and others thirty.”

John 15:4 …A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.” (GW, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Stay Connected

John 15:5 “I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches.  As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless.” (TPT)

The third metaphor God uses to represent the church in scriptures is the organic picture of a fruit tree, a grape vine. When you and I connect to that grape vine, to the fruit tree, guess what happens? When we connect it connects us to the Power of Christ. Read the rest of this entry

Benefits

Colossians 2:19 “But they are not connected to Christ, the Head to which all of us who are his body are joined; for we are joined together by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.” (LB, emphasis added).

God uses at least four metaphors in the scriptures to represent the church. The first is God’s Eternal Temple. The second is The Body Of Christ. When we connect to the church, it connects us to the body of Christ. I want you to write this down, Read the rest of this entry

Church Connects

Ephesians 4:25 “…In Christ’s body we’re all connected to each other…” (MSG, emphasis added).

In Christ’s body, we are all connected because without connection there can be no traction. Romans 12:4-5 Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.” (LB). Christ’s Body

Romans 12:4-5 “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s Body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others.” (LB, emphasis added).

Sometimes, someone walks up to me and says, ‘I come to your church, or I like your church’. did you notice the lingo? That is an attender. I bump into another person who says, ‘Pastor, I love the event we had in February. Read the rest of this entry

Together

Ephesians 4:16 “He joins and holds together the whole body with its ligaments providing the support needed so each part works to its proper design to form a healthy, growing, and mature body that builds itself up in love.” (The Voice)

We start today’s devotional by looking at three scriptures. 1 Corinthians 3:16Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Connected

Ephesians 2:21 “The building is joined together stone by stone—all of us chosen and sealed in Him, rising up to become a holy temple in the Lord.” (The Voice, emphasis added)

Traction is all about connections. Why are connections so important? Think about it. A car or a truck cannot move without connection (contact) with the road.

Arise!

Luke 16:11 “And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?” (LB).

What this scripture is saying is, your reward and your responsibility in heaven will be determined by how you manage your money here on earth. This is huge and scary.

Blessed Order

Ecclesiastes 5:19 “If God gives us wealth and property and lets us enjoy them, we should be grateful and enjoy what we have worked for. It is a gift from God.” (GNT, emphasis added).

Happiness is not determined by what you have, happiness is determined by your response to what you have. Let’s say you have a used car, for instance, it is not luxurious, but it is a car.

God’s Gifts

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

We will kick off today’s devotional with the final thought from yesterday which is, do not just have a budget, live on it. The truth is, it is one thing to have a budget, and that in itself is great. But having a budget alone does not give you financial traction, you have to live on it. Read the rest of this entry
