What Is Oil?
‘What can I do to help you? Elisha asked. ‘Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied’ 2 Kings 4:2.
Which is easier, when you are pursuing money or when money is pursuing you? Obviously it is easier when money is pursuing you. When money is pursuing you, won’t you just stop and tell it to catch you. Or what will you do if money is pursuing you? God is saying to you and I, if you focus on the oil, financial abundance will never be an issue. What is the oil? I am going to attempt to help us locate the oil. When we are done, you will see how seemingly simple it is to locate the oil. Read the rest of this entry
The Truth
‘And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free’ John 8:32
Yesterday we highlighted four levels of money – poverty, lack, comfortable, rich, and the wealthy. The rich are conceited and sadly they are the last to know that they are proud. The wealthy people most often look as simple as can be. Beyond the level of the rich and the wealthy is the level of the flourishing. The Bible says they that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish. The people on this level have a very different attitude to life. When they are in the car they sit in the front with the driver. A rich man will never do that. On Monday mornings, the flourishing don’t rush to work. Monday mornings Read the rest of this entry
Steps To Freedom III
‘In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker then you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered’ 1Pet.3:7.
Today we will be learning some very important lessons from the story of a notable man of God. We began yesterday by saying his wife recently divorced him because he had neglected her. During the interview he said that top on his priority list was God, then the ministry, and then family. So God first, after that he attends to the ministry, and if he has anytime left he attends to family. You and I know that there will be no time left because the ministry work Read the rest of this entry
Steps To Freedom I
‘We countered with prayer to our God and set a round-the-clock guard against them’ Neh.4:9 [MSG]
The first step towards freedom from abuse is silent no more. One of the traits of an abusive relationship that is sustained is, the victim keeps quiet in an attempt to avoid shame. I pray that you will not die in silence. If he is threatening to beat you up then tell him that if he threatens you ever again you will escalate it. The abuser will continue to abuse you if he knows you are his puppet. But if he knows that he cannot treat you like this and expect Read the rest of this entry
Visible Faith
‘Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man. “My child, your sins are forgiven”’ Mark 2:5
In Mark 2:1-12, there were four men who had a friend that was paralyzed and they came to Jesus but Jesus’ house was full. There was no room to walk into Jesus’ house. They could have said ‘perhaps it is not yet God’s time for God to heal our friend. We will wait for when Jesus is doing another healing service and come early so that we can be on the front row’. They did not do that. Instead, as the door was not accessible Read the rest of this entry
The Set Time!
‘Dear woman, that’s not our problem, Jesus replied. My time has not yet come’ John 2:4
The fourth thing you need to know when the day breaks is that it means the set time has come. Let’s assume you wake up at 6am and you set your alarm clock accordingly. When you hear the alarm go off, it means it is daybreak and the set time has come. In the days of old when there were no alarm clocks, the roosters were responsible for announcing daybreak. And as children, when we play games, the cockcrow was the signal for Read the rest of this entry
