Psalm 119:¹⁰⁵ “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

To be in sync with Heaven’s timing, the first thing is to Engage In Prayer. The second thing is to Engage Wise Counsel. None of us is as wise as all of us. Proverbs 11:¹⁴ “Where there is no wise guidance people fall, but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” (AMP, emphasis added). You will not fall, you will be surrounded by wise guidance, God will surround you with counsellors in the Mighty Name of Jesus. When the scripture says a multitude of counsellors, it doesn’t mean that everyone around you is a counsellor. In fact, less than twenty percent of the people in your life have the wisdom to propel your life to success. You need to discern and surround yourself with them. When you do, they become a multitude.

Proverbs 12:¹⁵ “A fool thinks he needs no advice, but a wise man listens to others.” (TLB). One way to recognize a fool is that they think they don’t need advice. When you see people who think they do not need anyone’s advice because they have everything figured out, the Bible says such a person is a fool. There is a side of your head that you cannot see, but another person can see and describe it easily. Even if you are surrounded by multiple mirrors, the person standing behind you can tell you how your head is shaped. You must surround yourself and be in touch with people who can counsel you.

Remember, it starts with prayer, with your own connection with God, with you knowing God and seeking God. Having counsel is not depending on other people to direct your life. No, that is not what the scripture is saying. Having the right counsel is leveraging on the wisdom that God has put in your life. Do I get an Amen? The third thing you need to do is to Engage The Word. To get into the right timing, you need to engage the Word of God. When we say engage the Word of God, yes, you have to read the Word but beyond that, you have to meditate on the Word, think about the Word, and allow the Word of God to wrestle with you. You have to probe queries at the Word and expect responses.

When you engage the Word, your timing becomes effortless. One of the challenges of engaging the Word in this culture is that there is too much noise around us. Everywhere you turn, everything is noisy, even sometimes without making a sound. So, we need to learn to be quiet because God mostly doesn’t shout.

Prayer: Father, help me to engage wise counsel and discern the people who have the wisdom to propel me into success and to engage the Word, in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
