Close Enough
‘Then He said to the crowd, if any of you want to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me’ Luke 9:23
‘Salvation costs you nothing but discipleship will cost you everything’ Mark Driscoll. Walking in the reality of our faith involves making Jesus Lord of all. Jesus is either Lord of all or He is not Lord at all. Salvation costs you nothing but to follow Jesus will cost you everything. When you are obedient it affects generations unborn. God cannot be your assistant driver. In Churches today, Read the rest of this entry
Fearless
‘Make the LORD of Heaven’s Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble’ Isa.8:13
People say that the phrase ‘Fear Not’ appears 365 times in the Bible. That is one for every day. Imagine your life fearless; imagine the things you could achieve if you are fearless. Picture your life when there is no one you cannot face and with no situation you cannot confront. Imagine what God can do with you, if you are fearless. That which you have imagined if you were fearless, Read the rest of this entry
Season Of Response I
‘…We realize that we have sinned, but now we are ready to enter the land …It won’t work. Do not go… You will only be crushed …because the LORD is not with you’ Num.14:40-42
With God, there is season of response for every instruction He gives you. One of the dangers of being afraid is that fear can cause you to miss the timing of God. The fact that God has said you should do something does not mean that door will remain open for ever. If you miss the season of response, you may go back to attempt the assignment and fail. In the scripture reference above, Read the rest of this entry
You Matter To Your Church Family
‘Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part. But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where He wants it’ 1Cor.12:14&18.
‘The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ’ 1Cor.12:12. The Church is a body. There is a part you have to play. A role that God has carved out for you. That part of the puzzle specially designed for your piece to plug into. If you refuse to plug in, the puzzle remains incomplete. The more we can get people to plug into the purposes of God, the Read the rest of this entry
Plug The Leaks III
‘Not doing what God tells you is far worse than fooling around in the occult. Getting self-important around God is far worse than making deals with your dead ancestors. Because you said No to God’s command, He says No to your kingship’ 1 Sam.15: 23 [MSG]
The third thing that leads to losses is Disobedience to God. You cannot refuse to listen to God and expect establishment. The only answer to this leak is obedience to God. Establishment neither comes from the east nor from the west but from God alone. ‘…It was I who sent this great destroying army Read the rest of this entry
Securing His Presence
‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me’ Ps.23:4 [KJV]
The major key to stilling every storm in our lives is securing the presence of God. Safety they say is not in the absence of danger but in the presence of the Lord. His presence guarantees your safety and deliverance inspite of the storm. This is why you repeatedly hear people testify that even though they experienced real life storms with waves crashing and all, their boats did not capsize. ‘Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for You are close beside me. Your rod and Your staff protect and comfort me’ Read the rest of this entry
God Wants You
‘Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself’ Jer.31:3
The best offering you can give God is yourself. The best gift you can give to Him is the gift of you. We are too quick to think that God is interested in what we have and that is why He wants to befriend us. So people think that as soon as they give their tithe and offering they have done their part. It is good to give offerings to God, it is wonderful that we can pay our tithe but this is not what God is after. The Bible says He owns the cattle upon a thousand hills, if God is hungry do you think you can feed Him? What food do you think you can Read the rest of this entry
Foundations of Fasting
‘Then if my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land’ 2 Chro.7:14
‘…and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land’. The foundation for fasting and praying is repentance. In other words, God is saying repentance guarantees answers to prayer. It is self-deception to still engage in the way of the world and expect results from God when you fast [read Isaiah 58]. ‘What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with Me’ Isa.58:4. You have been living in sin and because Read the rest of this entry
Why Fast: Part 1
‘Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust’ Acts 14:23
Your motive provides you with the motivation to engage spiritually. Fasting is a spiritual exercise which when embarked on with the right motives yields bountiful results. Why are you doing what you are doing? Over the next few days, we will be outlining eight reasons every Christian should engage in whole hearted fasting. Today we will examine the first two reasons. Why fast? Read the rest of this entry
Seeking God
‘So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and fasting’ Dan.9:3a
Seeking God is crucial to our love walk. It is in seeking God that we discover why we do what we do and get the understanding to live according to His purpose. Seeking God requires humility and sacrifice. Fasting is seeking God; a choice to abstain for the purpose of seeking God. The primary reason why we fast is to seek God and be still ‘in His presence where there is fullness of joy’. In other words, when you put certain things aside to make God priority and go deeper, He sorts you out. ‘That is why the LORD says, “Turn to me now, Read the rest of this entry
