2nd Root of Personal Disharmony: Lack of contentment
‘But godliness with contentment is great gain’ 1Tim.6:6
Another root cause of personal disharmony is lack of contentment. The reason why a lot of people do not have peace and harmony in their lives is because they are not content. There are people who are in church and are not content with the shoes on their feet. Be content! God did not say godliness with complacency is great gain because there is a difference between contentment, Read the rest of this entry
1st Root of Personal Disharmony: Fear
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 1John 4:18 [KJV]
Fear is at the root of personal disharmony. There is actually no fear in love because perfect love casts out fear. The fear you feel gets its strength from its source. In other words, fear is as strong as the authenticity of the source. The source could be your doctor who has just sent you a negative report based on test results. The next natural reaction to such reports because it is a trusted Read the rest of this entry
The Mirror
Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Isaiah 6:5
Until you stand before God’s mirror, it is almost impossible to be who He has called you to be. This statement many times sounds very distant to a number of people. The truth is that if you have a wrong perception of yourself, then chances are you will try to live out the wrong image you are seeing. You might be thinking that you already know what God has called you to do. This is very Read the rest of this entry
Negative Influence
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for ‘bad company corrupts good character’. Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all. 1 Cor.15:33-34
There is an old saying, ‘show me your friends and I will tell you who you are’. A number of us are deceived into thinking that birds of the same feather do not always flock together. ‘Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for bad company corrupts good character’. You cannot be wiser than God. The truth is you are in denial and it will take a little while but your own feathers to show Read the rest of this entry
Habits!
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. Gal.6:8
Wikipedia.org defines habits as ‘routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously’. Research states that it takes a normal human being 28 days to form a habit. A bad habit is a negative behavioral pattern that has been developed over time. Anything, besides worshiping God that you do not have control over in your life is dangerous. Understanding Favour: Response 3
For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you with joy. Prov.2:10
You must let godly wisdom influence your responses and reactions to situations of favour. Another form of rivalry between siblings occurs as a result of an overflow of favour (favour by proximity). In this case, the other sibling begins to experience favour as a result of being around the favoured sibling. When you hang around someone who is favoured, just like anointing, it Read the rest of this entry
Your Calling
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 2 Cor.4:17
Have you ever wondered why God lets you experience storms? Or why you have prayed and prayed and still nothing seems to be happening? Or why it seems no one knows the cost of the life you now are so thankful for. ‘Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set Read the rest of this entry
Self-dependency!
Yes, He humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Deut.8:3
Humble yourself so that God would not have to humble you. Self-dependency can be the greatest undoing of any child of God. If you can afford it or you can do it on your own then why do you need God? Because God loves you dearly, He will probably take you through a wilderness situation like the children of Read the rest of this entry
Levels of Commitment
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the Church, the body of Christ. Eph.4:12
Walking with God cannot happen without commitment. Have you ever asked yourself about your role in the body of Christ? ‘…build up the Church, the body of Christ’. This means that even within the Church, there are levels which you can only attain if you submit yourself to being built up. We grow in Read the rest of this entry
