Spiritual Growth in Community

‘As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend’ Prov. 27:17.

‘You use steel to sharpen steel, and one friend sharpens another’ Prov. 27:17 [MSG]. It is easy to identify this plan in everything that God created. For instance, He created plant with seed in itself. The same way He has given you experiences for the benefit and growth of others. Spiritual growth happens in Read the rest of this entry

Meaning and Healing in Community

‘Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results’ James 5:16

There is a huge difference between living a full life and living a meaningful life. A life can be full of activity and still be empty. This is why you find people who seem to be materially wealthy but emotionally starved. God wants our lives to move from being full to being meaningful even as you are planted in a life Read the rest of this entry

Made For Community

‘A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken’ Ecc.4:12.

God said it is not good for man to be alone. So God created the first community consisting of Adam and Eve. One is good but two are better than one. God made us for community. Every one of us experienced our first community at birth. According to God’s plan, your family is the first community experience you Read the rest of this entry

Confronting The Enemy

‘Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver… If the LORD is God, follow Him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!’ 1kings 18:21

Before the fire falls, you must confront the enemy. Challenge satan and his agents in the Name of Jesus. This kind of confrontation as prescribed in the Bible requires that you ‘submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’ James 4:7 [KJV]. The place of the personal altar Read the rest of this entry

Dispelling Storms:Personal Revelation

‘…Elisha prayed, O LORD, open his eyes and let him see! The LORD opened the …man’s eyes, and… he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire’ 2kings 6:17

Personal revelation is key to dispelling both internal and external storms. You need to know without any shadow of doubt that Jesus is in your boat. It requires a personal revelation God wants to open your eyes because you need to have your own personal revelation amidst the storm. No other person’s revelation will work for you. Read 2 kings 6:15-17. Elisha could remain calm in the midst of a storm because he had personal revelation. Even though Elisha told the young man not to be afraid, it was not enough to dispel his fears. The Read the rest of this entry

The Storm

‘Jesus said to His disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat… But soon a fierce storm came up… Jesus was sleeping… The disciples woke Him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care…’ Mark 4:35-38.

Imagine the storm approaching and Peter sends the first person ‘check if He was still in the boat’. The first feedback is that Jesus is there but sleeping. So Peter figures all must be well, if Jesus is on this boat we are fine. Then the high waves and the boat starts filling up with water and the second feedback says He is still sleeping. Peter could not take it anymore, along with the other disciples I can almost imagine him racing to where Jesus lay and waking him up vigorously not waiting for Him to finish opening His eyes before he Read the rest of this entry

God Wants You

‘Long ago the LORD said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself’ Jer.31:3

The best offering you can give God is yourself. The best gift you can give to Him is the gift of you. We are too quick to think that God is interested in what we have and that is why He wants to befriend us. So people think that as soon as they give their tithe and offering they have done their part. It is good to give offerings to God, it is wonderful that we can pay our tithe but this is not what God is after. The Bible says He owns the cattle upon a thousand hills, if God is hungry do you think you can feed Him? What food do you think you can Read the rest of this entry

Our Motives

The LORD’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive. Prov.20:27

‘People may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives’ Prov.16:2. Motives are a very powerful emotional force capable of taking you through any commitment from start to finish. It is your motive in any endeavor that keeps you going even in the face of challenges. Your motive reveals your heart. Take marriage for instance; if your motive for getting married is so you can display your husband at social Read the rest of this entry

Barrier to Acceleration: Un-confessed Sin

‘People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy’ Prov.28:13.

To ensure that God’s Word of acceleration manifests in full in your life, it is important to know and deal with every obstacle that attempts to impede your acceleration. With cars, there is the barrier of suspension. When it is lifted, the two front tires of the car become suspended. No matter how hard that car accelerates, there will be no change in position until that barrier is removed. God will deal with and remove every of such Read the rest of this entry

Chastisement

‘For the LORD disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child’ Heb.12:6

An earthly father’s love translates to favour, a multitude of gifts and occasional punishment when the child steps out of line. Punishment, because his love leads him to protect the man that boy will become. How much more our Heavenly Father who is righteous in all His ways and holy in all His acts. A number of times we are led to equate God’s love to blessings and good times alone. While all of these are expressions Read the rest of this entry
