How to be Spiritually Rich IV
‘The servant to whom he had entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to invest, and I have earned five more’ Matt.25:20.
Lesson 3: Be deliberate. Spiritually rich people are committed to be being spiritually rich and it is truly amazing. The same thing plays out with physically rich people. The people who are financially rich are committed to being financially rich. The people that are spiritually poor on the other hand wish Read the rest of this entry
How to be Spiritually Rich III
‘The servant who received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more. The servant with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two more’ Matt.25:16-17.
Lesson 2: I need to see possibilities. Just from the story we can see that the spiritually rich people focus on what can be done for the master. They focus on what can be done for Jesus. The spiritually poor people focus on why it cannot be done. The spiritually rich people are constantly looking out for things they can do for God and territories they Read the rest of this entry
How to be Spiritually Rich II
‘He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on his trip’ Matt.25:15
Lesson 1 (contd.): God is not prodigal. Let’s assume that three people go to the ocean to fetch water. One goes with a teaspoon, another with a bucket, and the last man with a tanker. Will all three of them come back home with the same quantity of water? It will be totally impossible for them to come back with the same quantity of water. What will Read the rest of this entry
How to be Spiritually Rich I
“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together his servants and entrusted his money to them while he was gone’ Matt.25:14
Many times we go through life wondering from one post to another and not really taking hold of life on purpose the way God would have us. From the Parable of the Three Servants [Matt.25:14-30], we can learn how to be spiritually rich. Even though this story literally is talking about money, yet we can apply it to spiritual wealth and learn how to become Read the rest of this entry
Don’t Be Tired
‘…Now pick up the other arrows and strike them against the ground. So the king picked them up and struck the ground three times. But the man of God was angry with him. You should have struck the ground five or six times! …Now you will be victorious only three times’ 2Kings 13:18-19.
Many of us want glory in certain areas of our life. We want to experience God in new ways but are not willing to pay the price. If you want to experience God’s glory, if you want to experience significant change in your marriage, or your carrier, you have to go on your knees and stay there. Even when you are physically tired and your knees and ankles are hurting you have to remain in Read the rest of this entry
Commitment vs. Routine
‘And so the Lord says, “These people say they are Mine. They honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me. And their worship of Me is nothing but man-made rules learned by rote’ Isa.29:13.
God wants us to be committed in everything we do. He wants us to be committed to Him, to our family, to our jobs, our relationships and career because without commitment we cannot grow. Yet when commitment is done in a such way that it has no meaning anymore, it becomes just a routine. For instance, a lot of people Read the rest of this entry
Solid Commitment
‘That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified’ Luke 2:8-9
These shepherds had spent their entire day watching over, feeding, and tending to the sheep. Yet at night their commitment to the sheep remained as solid as it was in the morning. They could have abandoned the sheep at night and in the eyes of man they would have been justified. It was in the place of their commitment Read the rest of this entry
Give It All Out!
‘Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back’. Luke 6:38
The extent to which you give is the extent to which you will be blessed. The prodigal son left his house on the significant level and ended up on the survival level, in penury. The reason is because he spent everything and gave nothing. This will not be our portion in Jesus Name. Jacob on the other hand left his father’s house on Read the rest of this entry
The Cross
‘Abba, Father, He cried out, everything is possible for You. Please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine’ Mark.14:36
There comes a time in every life when our will crosses with the will of the Father. Giving can be a huge sacrifice but it’s the best way to be a blessing and be blessed. Jesus Himself struggled with giving His life and this was the one thing on His mind when He went to Gethsemane to pray. Scripture records that while He prayed that night, His sweat was like blood. He too asked the Read the rest of this entry
He Gives Us His Gifts
‘A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church’ 1 Cor. 14:4
The gifts of the Holy Spirit edify and build us up. The Holy Spirit gives us His gifts to build us up as individuals and as a Church. The word edify in the Greek is translated oikodomio; oiko means to build while domio means dominion. It literally means to build a house. The word edify means to build up, to embolden, or to encourage. The gift of prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, working of miracles, diverse kinds of tongues, and so on are gifts of the Holy Spirit. All the gifts Read the rest of this entry
