As Scouts

Joshua 14:12 “So give me the mountain that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns…” (emphasis added)

Caleb could confidently give his testimony as a scout because he was faithful. If Caleb were lying, what do you think Joshua would have said? I thank God that most of the Pastors and leaders that I served under are still alive. Read the rest of this entry

Third Dimension

Luke 16:12 “And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?”

This is the third dimension. The first dimension, Luke 16:10 If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.Read the rest of this entry

Trustworthy

2 Samuel 22:26 “To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.”

Sometimes, when Jesus is teaching, He is teaching the same truth, but He uses different analogies. When He does that, it means whatever He says is very important. Remember the story of the prodigal son? In the same chapter, Jesus told the story of the lost coin. Read the rest of this entry

Little Things

Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with small things can also be trusted with big things. Whoever is dishonest in little things will be dishonest in big things too.” (ERV)

We will kick off today’s devotional with our final thought from yesterday. Luke 16:10-12 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, Read the rest of this entry

Faithful

Luke 16:10-11 “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven?”

So far, Caleb has taught us that A Promise Delayed Is Not A Promise Denied. Caleb had to wait; the fact that you have to wait for certain things does not mean that God has denied you of those things. Secondly, as you approach the giants, and stand before the mountains, Your Attitude Truly Determines Your Altitude, Read the rest of this entry

Not Automatic

Numbers 27:7-8 “The claim of the daughters of Zelophehad is legitimate. You must give them a grant of land along with their father’s relatives. Assign them the property that would have been given to their father… If a man dies and has no son, then give his inheritance to his daughters.”

Joshua 14:10-11 “Now, as you can see, the Lord has kept me alive and well as he promised for all these forty-five years since Moses made this promise—even while Israel wandered in the wilderness. Today I am eighty-five years oldI am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.” Read the rest of this entry

Claim It!

Joshua 14:12 “So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”

Why did Caleb ask for a mountain that had giants in the cities and high walls? Are you ready for this? This will change your life completely. It is because Caleb had something to prove. Read the rest of this entry

Step Up!

Joshua 14:12 “…You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak (giants) living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.” (emphasis added).

Now pause, read the anchor scripture again, and pay attention to Caleb’s response. Why? It is because very often our response is, ‘if the Lord is with me, He will drive them out of the land’. Read the rest of this entry

Bold Claims

Joshua 14:12 “So give me the hill country that the Lord promised me. You will remember that as scouts we found the descendants of Anak living there in great, walled towns. But if the Lord is with me, I will drive them out of the land, just as the Lord said.”

Caleb made bold claims. The problem with some of us is that the claims we are making are too tiny. Where did the Lord promise Caleb the hill country? It is not in scripture. How did he know that was where God had promised him? Read the rest of this entry

Wholeheartedly

Matthew 5:8 “When you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right, then you can see God in the outside world.” (MSG, emphasis added)

Joshua 14:8 …For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.” (emphasis added). The state of your heart determines the level of your access to God’s promises and God’s presence. It is all about the heart, Caleb’s heart was with God, so he followed God completely. Read the rest of this entry
