Look
Psalm 14:2 “The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if anyone is truly wise, if anyone seeks God.”
Remember Joseph? Out of jealousy, his brothers threw him into a pit. You may look at your life right now and what best describes it is the word pit because of the ‘stench’ around you. Or perhaps there is a lot of confusion around you or even dirt. Read the rest of this entry
Cherished & Chosen
Psalm 40:2-3 “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed…”
By the grace of God, after at least twenty-six years of walking with God, I can say to you that I have not always been able to understand what God is up to. Read the rest of this entry
Remember
Deuteronomy 7:9 “So know that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God. He will keep his agreement of love for a thousand lifetimes for people who love him and obey his commands”. (NCV).
We see from Exodus 19:1-12 (please read) that the people came to a physical mountain. But in our case, we come to a spiritual mountain (Hebrews 12:18-24, please read). However, there are a few things we can learn by looking at their model. Read the rest of this entry
Prepare
Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”
It is a new season, and we are excited about all that God has in store for us. I want you to prepare your heart for higher ground. Our text over the next few days is Exodus 19:1-12 (please read). Read the rest of this entry
About Connections
1 Timothy 3:15 “I want you to know how people who are members of God’s family must live. God’s family is the church…” (GW, emphasis added).
The church connects you to God’s Family. And your number one responsibility to other members of your local church is to love other members of that church family. 1 Peter 2:17 “…Love the brothers and sisters of God’s family…” (NCV). Read the rest of this entry
Step Up
Matthew 13:6&8 “But when the sun came up, it burned the young plants; and because the roots had not grown deep enough, the plants soon dried up… But some seeds fell in good soil, and the plants bore grain: some had one hundred grains, others sixty, and others thirty.”
John 15:4 “…A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.” (GW, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry
Stay Connected
John 15:5 “I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless.” (TPT)
The third metaphor God uses to represent the church in scriptures is the organic picture of a fruit tree, a grape vine. When you and I connect to that grape vine, to the fruit tree, guess what happens? When we connect it connects us to the Power of Christ. Read the rest of this entry
Benefits
Colossians 2:19 “But they are not connected to Christ, the Head to which all of us who are his body are joined; for we are joined together by his strong sinews, and we grow only as we get our nourishment and strength from God.” (LB, emphasis added).
God uses at least four metaphors in the scriptures to represent the church. The first is God’s Eternal Temple. The second is The Body Of Christ. When we connect to the church, it connects us to the body of Christ. I want you to write this down, Read the rest of this entry
Church Connects
Ephesians 4:25 “…In Christ’s body we’re all connected to each other…” (MSG, emphasis added).
In Christ’s body, we are all connected because without connection there can be no traction. Romans 12:4-5 “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each needs all the others.” (LB). Christ’s Body
Romans 12:4-5 “Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ’s Body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete, for we each have different work to do. So we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others.” (LB, emphasis added).
Sometimes, someone walks up to me and says, ‘I come to your church, or I like your church’. did you notice the lingo? That is an attender. I bump into another person who says, ‘Pastor, I love the event we had in February. Read the rest of this entry
