Maturity

‘Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need’ Matt.6:33

A lot of people and even Christians are concerned about the effects that wealth can have on true love especially since the Bible says ‘there will always be some poor among you’. If you read the preceding scriptures it also states that ‘There should be no poor among you, for the Lord your God will greatly bless you in the land He is giving you as a special possession’ Deut.15:4. Yes some Christians will be in lack because of the decisions they have taken by themselves. Some will also be rich because of the decisions they have taken by themselves. So choose what side of the curve you want to be on. God’s Words, says ‘Seek the Kingdom of God above all else’, and live righteously [the decisions you make], and He will give you everything you need’. It comes with a promise. All Christians can be rich but set your priorities right.

Can wealth cause a gap in brotherly love or true love even among Christians? Definitely but even this in itself is subject to maturing in God. For example, if you have say a poor guy and a rich guy, if the poor guy is matured spiritually and the rich guy is not matured spiritually, they will still have problems. It is same thing if the rich guy is matured spiritually and the poor guy isn’t matured spiritually. Poverty is NOT proof of spiritual maturity! Some people erroneously insinuate that poverty and spiritual maturity go together. This is very far from the truth. So even if they are both not rich or if both are rich, if one of them is immature they will still have issues. So the issue is not the money really, even though that creates a challenge, the issue is spiritual maturity. You need to take deliberate steps to maturity. In God’s Favourite House, we have a specially designed program that takes you on a path through spiritual maturity. Find out if your church has any such arrangements. Attend it with your intending partner and then address this problem truthfully. Guess what, you will also need this knowledge even when you get married because everyone goes through a rough patch. You need your spouse to weather the storm with you.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I defer completely to You. Help me make God my priority at all times and let His Word define my other priorities, in Jesus Name.
