Give Yourself

‘But more than anything else, put God’s work first and do what he wants. Then the other things will be yours as well’ Matt.6:33 [CEV]

Another thing you can give this season is, give your life to Jesus. This is the best gift you can give. Many of us are so consumed with the mistakes we have made in the past, in our marriages, and in our lives that it is hindering us from moving forward. Yet if you understand and realize that Jesus has taken care of your past you will stop worrying. Jesus is offering you a fresh start; free from all the wrong you have ever done, including what you did last week, and even yesterday. For some of us the anxiety we have is for the future; what will tomorrow hold – success, failure, marriage, or loneliness? For some every next level becomes the focus of their worrying. You will stop worrying about your future when you realize that Jesus has already taken care of your future. He is ‘the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, the One that was, the One that is, and the One that is to come, the Almighty’. Meaning He is always there. Let go of all your fears because the One who has been there from the beginning holds your future.

A story is told of a very wealthy artist whose paintings were sold for millions of dollars. He had just one son who passed on. When his son died, the artist also passed on a couple of months after, perhaps out of sorrow or a broken heart . His will stated that everything he had was to be auctioned. A lot of wealthy people gathered to buy his paintings, estates, or cars. The auction started with a portrait painting of his son. The opening bid started at a $1000 and it dropped to $100 and still no one wanted the painting. Then the gardener who had served the man came up and paid for the painting. So the host moved to close the auction and all the wealthy people wanted to know why. The host revealed his secret deal with the artist that whoever buys the portrait of the son gets everything. The gardener did not bargain for that, he out of love just wanted the picture of the son. Many of us want the houses and cars but God is saying ‘will you get the Son?’.
