The Key Of Communication I

‘It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat or even touch it; if you do, you will die’ Gen.3:3

The third key to having a great relationship whether married or single is the key of communication. All these keys are from Adam and Eve’s relationship. Adam failed on two grounds. Firstly, Adam failed to communicate accurately with Eve. And that is almost always a problem in our homes. The way men communicate is different from the way women communicate. A man will just summarize and give you bullet points and go on with his life. Probably that is what Adam did. When you do that to your wife, you are allowing her to fill in the blanks. And that can be very dangerous as we saw with Eve. Eve in her conversation with the devil added her own to the things that were said concerning the forbidden fruit. Why, because Adam did not communicate properly obviously. So for instance, I hang out with my brother the whole day. When I come home my wife asks what did you guys do? And I say we played games. Then she asks what did you guys talk about? And I say that I asked him how his work was. And then she asks what did he say? And I say that he said fine. She wants details. Men are activity driven but women are verbally driven. Men connect over an activity and that is why it appears that most men really like sex because it is an activity. Most women just like to cuddle and talk because that is what they want. Men and women are totally different. If you don’t learn to communicate with your wife ‘like a woman’ you will have problems. I have learnt to talk to my wife ‘like a woman’ with all the details women want. Sometimes it wears me out; but I am learning. Also, women if you do not learn to connect with your husbands activity–wise, you will have issues. The man likes to play tennis, then go and learn how to play tennis. Is that hard? Play tennis together and he will feel so connected to you. It may not make sense to you. Just do it! To the woman it seems totally crazy that that is all the man wants to do but that is just how men are. Start making an effort to communicate and receive communication.
