Save Money

‘A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches’ Prov.11:16 [KJV].

The second way to relate with money is Save Money. God wants us to save money. God expects you and I to retain wealth. There is a Scottish proverb that says “a fool may earn money but it takes a wise man to keep it”. The Bible says, ‘A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches’. Strong men retain riches; a weak man spends all he has. No matter how much he makes, a weak man cannot retain wealth. The word man there refers to the male-man and female-man. If you think about it, it is when you want to develop a culture of saving money that things begin to show up. Suddenly everything becomes very urgent and extremely necessary. Where were those things before you began to save money? You have to be brutal about saving money. You cannot retain wealth without being brutal. I am not going to tell you what percentage to save. Save what works for you but just save money. Why am I telling you to save money after all heaven is our home right? Note I am not telling you to save money for a rainy day. In fact saving money for a rainy day is too basic. God will take care of you during the rain. The reason why I am telling you to save money is for two strategic things. You cannot keep your money in savings. The economists say inflation rate is higher than interest rate. If this is the case and you are keeping your money in the bank, then you are actually losing money because inflation is eroding it. When I say save money I am not saying you should save money so you can grow your wealth by savings.

Save money for two reasons. The first reason is so that you will have enough to seize investment opportunities that come your way. God will bring investment opportunities your way. You have to have money to seize them. Secondly, so you will have money to sow when God calls for a seed. If God calls for a seed and you don’t have a seed to sow then it means that you have eaten your seed because God gives seed to the sower. ‘Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness2 Cor.9:10 [NKJV].

Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to sow my seed and eat my bread, in Jesus Name.
