Stirred Up

…Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish”. “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” Luke 5:4-5

It is important for us, as believers, to know that God can stir us up just to preach the gospel and sometimes it can be to total strangers. Go with God’s leading. A friend of mine invited me for her party. They were all teenagers and you know how teenager’s parties can be. I grabbed the microphone, called for their attention and preached Jesus. When I was done I declared the party could continue but instead they all began to leave one after the other. She said she hated me for spoiling her party but we are friends now. ‘So beginning with this same Scripture, Philip told him the Good News about Jesus’ Acts 8:35.Please read Acts 8:26-39. The Holy Spirit took Philip to Ethiopia to preach to someone he didn’t know at all and that was it. For some of you, God is stirring you to just preach the gospel. I know the struggle, believe me, particularly if you are introverted like me. I was taking a bus from Ojuelegba [a place in Lagos, Nigeria] to Ketu [a place in Lagos, Nigeria] and I felt the Lord say “I want you to preach in the bus today”. All my flags went up but I made up my mind early in my walk with God that I will never disobey God. Have you made that commitment too? If you haven’t, then please make it today. It is a dangerous commitment but it will always lead to life. So in obedience I opened my mouth and nothing came out! I tried to preach and nothing came out. I struggled until we got to Ketu and the bus emptied itself of all the people in it. Was I going to go home knowing that God had spoken to me and I just ignore Him? The answer of course was no, so I got on another bus going back to Ojuelegba. In the bus, I counted one to ten, opened my mouth to speak, and blank! I counted one to twenty, one to five, one to three! Before I knew it we were at Ojuelegba and I had not said anything. I cannot sleep if I don’t obey God. So again I got on another bus going back to Ketu and for some reason God chose to help me. As I opened my mouth and began to speak, you cannot imagine what happened in that bus. Do you want to see the power of God? Preach the gospel, just the gospel, don’t add anything. Just preach Jesus, He is enough. In fact, He is more than enough.

Prayer [Hymn]: Take my voice, and let me sing
 Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
Filled with messages from Thee. Amen! [Verse 3 of hymn: Take My Life and Let It Be]
