Waiting Time II

‘But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” Num.13:30

Waiting time is not wasted time, waiting time is Prayer time. Caleb at eighty-five said to Joshua, ‘give me this mountain’. Caleb was asking for Horeb where there were giants. Caleb says, ‘as I was forty years ago so is my strength. I’m going to go and kill these giants’. Many people would rather ask Joshua to send people to go and clear the place for them; but not Caleb. Learn from Caleb, Nehemiah, and David. You have to take responsibility for your destiny. Don’t pray for manna [food in the wilderness]; pray that God will open the door. Then assure God that once He opens the door, you will kill every goliath by His strength.

Waiting time is not wasted time, waiting time is People time. When you are waiting on God for a promise and it is dragging, the tendency is to withdraw from people because of shame. I know that because I have waited on God for many things. We feel that people don’t understand and some immature people also pass some very nasty hurtful comments. At such times it is as if we should just enter our shell and sing, ‘Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen, nobody knows my sorrow’. We lick our wounds and throw a pity party. Listen, that is the lie of the devil. Waiting time is not cave time, waiting time is people time. God expects you and I to form new relationships and become even friendlier in spite of the pain. People may be the problem but people are also the solution. For many things God wants to do in your life, He is going to use people. You want to get married, guess what, there is going to be somebody that knows somebody. Maybe the person that you are dodging and not taking his or her call, maybe the person is the brother of the cousin of the aunty of the person you are going to marry. You just never know. So rather than entering into a cave we should go in the opposite direction and actually connect with people. Matt Bird taught us that for you to fulfill your destiny, 25% relies on your technical skills and 75% relies on your people skills. So don’t enter any cocoon, be bold, be strong, lift up your head and connect with people. People caused Joseph to go down to the prison and people brought Joseph from the prison to the palace.

Prayer: Father, I ask for mercy that I may find grace now in my time of need, in Jesus Name.
