The Big How
Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” Luke 1:34
When we have qualified our dreams and authenticated the vision. What becomes clear to us immediately is the ‘what’. Once you know the what, the way we are wired as human beings, our brains begin to think of the ‘how’. How shall these things be? Your mind now knows what and so it attempts to calculate the how. But the challenge is when we focus so much on how, we begin to lose enthusiasm particularly because sometimes we really don’t know how. So what began as a dream can easily become a nightmare. Let’s say you have a dream of starting a toothpick making company. Do you know that we currently import toothpick in Nigeria? Isn’t there something wrong with that? What is there in making toothpick? I hope someone reading this today will wake up to this dream. So the toothpick making business is the big what and if the how doesn’t add up, overtime, wherever you see toothpicks you begin to run. And it is because that toothpick reminds you of what could be that should be that was not. For some, you find out that some people just resent you for nothing. The reason they are resenting you is because you are what they could have been and they should have been and they are not. So you are reminding them of their failures and so they hate you. I know things are beginning to add up for some of us reading this today.
What started off as a dream, sometimes if you don’t get the big how, can become a major challenge. So many visions have died in the brutal hands of how. When my wife and I just got married, I would tell her all the big visions I had. And she would always ask me how. I used to take her asking how as rebellion. I felt she was rebelling against me. But thank God for the women that will ask us questions that will force us to think in a concrete way. When you have a big idea, you think everybody should be able to see it, right? But when you are trying to tell them and they can’t see it, you start wondering if they are slow or just daft. God will take you through that process.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to walk the paths that You are taking me through in spiritual and personal growth, in Jesus Name.
