God Sees The Heart!

‘Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you.
He who guards your soul knows you knew.
He will repay all people as their actions deserve’ Prov.24:12.

Do you care what God says about you? David survived all the negativity directly channeled at him and as a result his house became stronger and stronger but the house of Saul became weaker and weaker. This was because of David’s greatest asset – his heart. David kept the integrity his heart. If there is anything you need to guard with all your life in your walk with God, it is your heart. Jealousy, anger, theft, murder, fornication, wealth, wisdom, even the pure virtues, everything flows from the heart. Years ago my spiritual father, Pastor Eskor, on his death bed said to me, “You have a good heart. Guard your heart. Our walk with God is a heart walk”. Apparently he had put me through all sorts of tests and I didn’t know but God helped me to respond well. I left his side that day but I couldn’t shake off his words – “this walk with God is a heart walk”.

What made God reject Eliab, Abinadab, Shimiea and the other seven sons of Jesse? God skipped all seven sons of Jesse and chose David because of David’s heart. Jesus could stand fornicators, tax collectors, prostitutes, all “the greatest sinners” but Jesus couldn’t stand hypocrites. Hypocrites were the only group of sinners that Jesus wasn’t comfortable around. Jesus said to the woman committing adultery, ‘I don’t condemn you, go and sin no more’. Jesus said to Mathew, a tax collector, ‘come and follow me’. Jesus related with and dined in the houses of the “dirtiest people”. But Jesus looked at hypocrites and said, ‘woe unto you’ [Meaning you are cursed]. Hypocrisy is a heavy thing with God. Hypocrisy is your heart saying one thing but your behavior is saying another thing. Jesus couldn’t stand hypocrites. If there is something you must rid your heart of today, by the cleansing power of the blood, it is hypocrisy. Spouses are being hypocritical to each other. If someone is being hypocritical with their spouse that they are living with, then who are you? They will sell you for five shillings. Jesus couldn’t stand hypocrites.

Prayer:  Holy Spirit, please purge me completely of every form of hypocrisy in my heart. Help me to remain true to You Lord, in Jesus Name.
