Has He Promised?

‘Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’ Deut.1:21

The third important reminder as we progress in the year 2014 is that the land is still before you, go and possess it. Some people have possessed the land they were looking unto God for – praise God! But there are still a number of people who are still waiting on God for their Promised Land. You need to know without a shadow of doubt that God has not changed His mind. ‘Look! He has placed the land in front of you. Go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’ Deut.1:21. What is the land that you are believing God for in 2014 or that you have believed God for in the past? Is it a spouse, or is it a child, or is it a promotion, or is it a spiritual gift? Whatever the land is, I am here to tell you that the land I still before you. In fact my message to you today is very simple. God is saying to you and I ‘go and occupy it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you. Don’t be afraid!’ God is too faithful to fail you!

The last two instructions in the quoted portion of Scripture today are ‘Don’t be afraid! Don’t be discouraged!’ it points to two things. Firstly, it shows that there are things that will try to scare us when we attempt to possess the land that God has set before us. And secondly, it shows that there are situations that will try to discourage us. Yet God is saying ‘do not be discouraged’ and you will possess it in Jesus Name. It is not going to be by power and it certainly is not going to be by might. ‘They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them the victory. It was your right hand and strong arm and the blinding light from your face that helped them, for you loved them’ Ps.44:3. We are going to possess the land but God is saying to you and I, ‘it is not going to be by your intelligence’. Yes God is going to use your skill but it is going to be beyond your skill and intelligence. It is going to be purely by the favour of God. God’s unparalleled favour will speak for you this year. And may the Judge of the whole earth continue to rule in your favour in Jesus Name.
