Indestructible Word
“For through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see… Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together” Col.1:16-17
Yesterday, we established the fact that the material a substance is made up of determines its strength and reliability. “But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man” John2:24-25. Jesus knew what they were made up of. Jesus knew that these same men can say, “Hosanna to the Son of God” today, and they can shout, “Crucify Him!” tomorrow. The problem with a lot of us is that we don’t know men.
So what makes Jesus so reliable? I’ll tell you, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God” John 1:1-2. Now fast forward to John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth”. The Bible states that the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us; what Word? The Word of God became flesh. So what material is Jesus made up of? The Word of God! Everything that cannot break the Word of God cannot break Christ. The Word of God is so powerful. When God wanted to create heaven and earth, He spoke the Word. The Bible says He holds the whole world together by the Word of His power. In other words, if Jesus lets go, everything will disintegrate. And that is what I am telling you to anchor your life on. Anchor your life on Christ, on the Living Word of God. And guess what? Jesus is reliable.
You can rely on Jesus for a lot of things, for everything really. But we will highlight a few.
#1: You can rely on Jesus to make a way out of temptation regardless of the temptation. It is either a temptation of sin, or a temptation of waiting on a promise, or a temptation of pressure. Whatever the temptation is, you can rely on Jesus to make a way. “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure” 1Cor.10:13.
#2: You can rely on Jesus to strengthen and protect you. If you focus on the attacks alone, or the threat of the enemy [the enemy sometimes works through people], or people that don’t like us; some of us should be buried by now but we are still standing and it is because Jesus is protecting us. “But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one” 2 Thes.3:3. So why would you be afraid to go anywhere? Go! The Lord will strengthen you, guard you, and protect you from the evil one.
Prayer: “My God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence” [2 Sam.22:3], in Jesus Name.
