What Will It Be?

“So Elisha returned to his oxen and slaughtered them. He used the wood from the plow to build a fire to roast their flesh. He passed around the meat to the townspeople, and they all ate. Then he went with Elijah as his assistant” 1 Kings 19:21.

The third category of excuses is the pride of life – pride in our achievements and possessions. “Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them outLuke 14:19. The question to you and I is, what exactly is your excuse? If you follow the story in Luke 14:15-24 [Please read], immediately the Master [representing God] said, “Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lameLuke 14:21 [emphasis added]. Strange but true; it is broken people that seek God the most. People whose lives have been shattered seek God the most. Some people erroneously think that God is for the poor. No, the Master invited the man that had the oxen, He invited the man that had the field and He invited the man that had the wife. Then He invited the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame. The poor – those who cannot fend for themselves. If you are reading this and you cannot fend for yourself, Jesus is calling you to a banquet. The crippled – those that are unproductive. If you are reading this and you are unproductive, Jesus is calling you to a banquet. The blind – those that cannot see; they lack vision. If you are reading this and your life lacks direction, Jesus is calling you to a banquet. You see, the lame are not poor, they are not crippled, and they are not blind. Lame means immobile, even though they can see and they are not poor, yet they can’t move. It is like they are stuck on one spot; Jesus is calling them, yes even you to a banquet.

If you are thinking, what about me? I just bought a field. Jesus is calling you. What about me, I just bought five pair of oxen, my business is doing well. Jesus is calling you. The question is will you give an excuse? What is your excuse going to be? Are you going to come up with a fresh excuse today or are you going to allow Jesus have His way? Are you going to come up with a fresh reason why you cannot? The reason people are where they are, in every area of their lives, is because of the excuses they have and are giving in that particular area. Spiritually, the reason you are not growing, the reason you are where you are is because of the excuses you are giving when it comes to spiritual things. The church has called for a season of fasting, prayer and seeking God but you exempt yourself because your workload at this time is too much. Really? Someone once said to me jokingly; you have the gift of or anointing to fast. I am saying to you – receive this gift and anointing. Say Amen!

Prayer: Lord Jesus, Master, no more excuses. Today, I take this stand for You and with You. I receive Your invitation to the banquet, in Jesus Name.
