Enough With The Excuses!

“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” 2 Cor.3: 17

The reason you are still battling with that sin which is keeping you bound, is the excuse you are giving. The more you excuse it, the more you are incapacitated by it. Academically, the reason you have not passed your examinations is because you are giving excuses. Who says nobody in your family ever succeeds in math? Therefore, if any man is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new2 Cor.5:17 [NKJV, emphasis added]. You are not excluded. Instead of making excuses, declare that you have the mind of Christ, a mathematical mind [Ex.27:1].

In your marriage, the excuse you are giving is what has kept the marriage the way it is. There is almost nothing I don’t discuss with the people I Pastor except the Lord leads otherwise. I may be speaking with a wife for example and I am led to query why she is depriving her husband of intimacy. Naturally, the woman will be curious as to how I got this information. Well, you can say the Holy Spirit told me. So I would probe further to find out why she would be doing something like this and the woman’s excuse is, sometimes, not enough time. She promises to change. So I give it some time and check back months later. In one particular case, I checked back six months later and guess what? She gave me the very same excuse! It is my prayer that these good husbands who are going through such challenges in their marriage will not commit adultery, in Jesus Name. But if he should commit adultery guess what will happen? That same wife will blame the devil and claim people are trying to destroy her marriage. Really?! It is the excuse you are giving that is keeping you where you are! Think about it!

Even professionally or in your business, what excuse are you giving? God is calling you to abundance, what excuse are you giving for your laziness? Just sit down and write the proposal, or is that a big deal? You cannot rise above the level of your excuse. The moment you drop that excuse – spiritually, emotionally, financially, physically, maritaly, and in any and every area of your life, your next level happens like an explosion.

Jesus is calling you to a new walk with God, to a higher level of consecration, to forgive that person and reconcile, to a life of abundance, to repentance, and to take your place in His Kingdom. What is your excuse?

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I commit to flushing the excuses that are limiting me in every area of my life. Holy Spirit, Help me, in Jesus Name.
