Unquestionable!

“God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world” 1 Cor.7:23

I heard this story long ago and every time I have the privilege to, especially at Easter, I share it. I never get tired to telling this story and you shouldn’t either. In fact, every day should be Easter to us as believers because Jesus is alive.

Jesus was crucified, hung on a cross – they killed Him! They bound His body and buried him. Physically, Jesus was in the tomb. Spiritually, the Bible says Jesus descended into hell [hades, the grave]. While Jesus was crucified, there was a party in hell. Satan and his demons were jubilating, rejoicing, dancing, and celebrating. They said to one another, ‘Finally, we killed him. We got rid of that Son of God that wants to come and take our territory. We got him good!’ The party went on for days and on the third day of the party, they started hearing footsteps coming from afar. So satan, feeling totally in control, sent one of the demons to check. ‘Who can that be?’ he said, everybody is here! Check!’ The demon ran back and said, ‘You will not believe it, it is Him again’. ‘Him who?’, satan asked. ‘Jesus!’ the demon responded. ‘Jesus? No way! Lock the gates, stand guard everyone, stop the music!’ They all stood by the gates. Jesus showed up at the gates with the host of heaven and it was announced to the gates, “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in”. And they asked, “Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in”. Again they asked, “Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory” Ps.24:7-10. And at that point, the gates crumbled. The Bible says, Jesus bruised the head of satan; He collected the keys of death and hell.

The reason, as a child of God, you can cast out demons and they obey is simple, the demons were there when Jesus defeated satan. So when you say, ‘in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, come out!’ The demons have no choice but to obey. Why? It is because Jesus earned the respect! He was God but He went and fought and won. It was His but He went, earned it, and took it back [Eph.2:6-11]. Jesus is alive means that everything that could not hold Jesus down in the grave will not hold you down, in the mighty Name of Jesus.

Prayer: I declare that because I have new life in Christ Jesus who died but now lives, everything that could not stop Jesus’ resurrection will not stop me, in Jesus Name.
