Until You Move

“It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge” Josh.3:15.

“But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”  Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!” Ex.14:13-15. A lot of the time, like Moses we are telling ourselves wait and see what God will do. But God is saying move – just move. Some things will never happen until you move. In Joshua 3, it was when the feet of the priests that were carrying the ark touched Jordan that it parted. If they had stood there, praying and fasting for Jordan to part, nothing would have happened. But as they put their feet in the water, Jordan parted. As you move by faith in God, Jordan will part. As you raise your rod to the Red Sea, it will part. People will think you are crazy but you have to move.

Please read Esther 4, it is an amazing read and I am certain God has a lot more pointers for us in His Word. The background to this story is that a certain man called Haman had hatched a plan to kill all the Jews. And it just so happened that Esther, the queen, was a Jew. In those days the king was like a little god; if you show up before him without his sending for you, one of two things could happen. Either he raises his scepter and you live or he does nothing and the person is beheaded regardless of who the person is. So Mordecai, Esther’s uncle sent a message to Esther to talk to the king on behalf of the Jews. And our reading picks up from there. How does this story apply to us? Simple; as individuals, even after you have fasted and prayed, you must move. They didn’t just fast and pray for three days and say let us see what God will do after all the heart of the kings is in God’s hand. So let God move the heart of the king. “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.” Es.4:16. After they fasted and prayed, Esther still had to take that step, risky as it was and God glorified Himself. In fact, the person that wanted to kill the Jews, was killed. God always brings us to a place where we can choose to stay on the fence and play it safe. Or we can choose to stick it out for God and watch what will happen. Jesus is waiting for you and I to take action. We have prayed and we will keep praying but it is time to act. It is time for action.

Prayer: Father, in line with Your Word, as I step my feet into the Jordan let the waters part before me, in Jesus Name.
