Where Is He?

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” Rev.3:20.

#4. Jesus is waiting to fellowship with you and I. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him, and he with me” Rev.3:20 [KJV]. This passage is very popular with evangelistic crusades and people give their lives to Jesus. That’s fantastic! However, with scripture, there are many levels of interpretation but primarily, this passage was not written for unbelievers. This passage was written for Christians [for believers]. In fact, Jesus was talking to the churches in Asia. ““Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea” Rev.3:14. So this message was for the church in Laodicea. Jesus was talking to the church, to the people that are saved. He was saying, “I stand at the door and…” Think about it, isn’t that pathetic? What is He doing at the door? Is He not supposed to be inside? For a lot of Christians, a lot of other things have taken the place of the throne inside the heart. And Jesus has been pushed outside and is now standing at the door. Jesus says, I am at the door knocking; I want to have fellowship with you. He didn’t say I am knocking so that we can have a night vigil, or so that we can fast and pray. He said I am knocking so that we can have a meal together as friends.

So where is Jesus? Is He inside or is He at the door knocking? If you are reading this with your spouse or any one, I urge you to ask this question. Where is Jesus? Is He inside or is He at the door? If you look at the whole of Revelation 3, you can see why Jesus was outside even though they were His church. “Write this letter to the angel of the church in Laodicea. This is the message from the one who is the Amen—the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s new creation: “I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth! You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and nakedRev.3:14-17 [emphasis added]. Let us go for evangelism; you are indifferent. Let us have night vigils and pray; you are indifferent. Let us take the territories for Jesus; you are indifferent. You are neither hot nor cold. May Jesus not spit you out of His mouth.

Prayer: Father, help me respond to Your call to fellowship daily. Lord, stir up Your fire in me and keep me burning till Jesus comes, in Jesus Name.
