Foundation Stone IV

“We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work” John 9:4

#4: STOP PROCRASTINATING. Stop procrastinating! What has God told you to do or what is God telling you to do? Just do it and stop procrastinating. God has told you to do something – just do it! I have come across people who have said they will do what God is telling them to do later and they boast that they will do it better then. Have you encountered such people? My sincere advice to all of us today is when God says you should do something, just do it.

One thing that makes some of us procrastinate is that we rely so much on our intentions because as far as we are concerned we have very good intentions. This is why people make statements like, God sees my heart – my heart is very pure. I agree that you have very good intentions but someone says “I will not be remembered in this world because of my great intentions or my ability to procrastinate effectively” and neither would you. Nobody is remembered because they have good intentions. A husband that can put food on the table for instance, and forgets to put food on the table. In other words, he does not make it a priority, then gets home and says to the wife, I have good intentions, you may be angry with me but God sees my heart. God knows that I would have bought this food. Does that help anybody? It does not help anybody because nobody gets anywhere with good intentions – nobody! Jesus says, “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work” John 9:4. I must work the work of Him that sent me because night is coming when no one can work. People will be willing to work but people will not be allowed to work. A lot of us procrastinate because we think we have time. Some of us think when it is night we can still work because we can put on the generator. The night that Jesus is talking about there is no generator and no one can work! So you have the book, read the book! You have the project, do the project! God says you should give, give! God is asking you to give your life, give your life. Just do it! And I say again you will live long in Jesus Name [say amen], but at the end you will also be able to say I have fought a good fight I have finished my course. You may be reading this devotional today and you are one of those who keeps putting-off making Jesus Lord of your life because you believe there is still time. Jesus Himself says the night is coming even in that. Seize this opportunity to put your life in order and cry out to Jesus. Just do it!

Prayer: Lord, give me a heightened sense of urgency for the work that God assigned me to do so that I will be able to say I have finished my course, in Jesus Name.
