Learn Their Ways
“Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter” Prov.6:6-8
Many of us go through life with no clear-cut vision, no clear-cut God imprinted big idea for our lives. You still hear people say things like I just want to be famous. There is noting wrong with a child thinking or desiring to be famous. But you cannot be in your thirties and your vision is being famous. Some people say to me, I don’t care I just want to ‘hammer’. Initially I didn’t know what ‘hammer’ meant. I said you want to hammer does that mean you want to go into carpentry? And I was told ‘hammer’ means to make it big. How can your life objective be to make it? That is not a vision. For someone his desire is to eat everything edible at anytime of the day and not gain weight. For another person, her vision is to put in a little work and earn a lot of money. In western Nigeria it is referred to as working like an ant and eating like an elephant. But the truth remains that if you really work like an ant you will actually eat like an elephant. Have you ever examined the life of an ant? You will discover that the ant is one of the most strategic creatures, most industrious, they know when it is winter, they know when to plan, they know how to set goals, they know when to pursue their objectives with single mindedness. If you place sugar on the table and you block the ant from accessing it what will happen is the ant will find another way. As long as the sugar is there, the ant is going to get it. I think we need to begin to work like ants so that we can begin to eat like elephants.
Please read Proverbs 6:6-11. God is saying to you and I learn their ways and become wise, though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work. A lot of people don’t work if there is no one there to make them work but when they see the boss everybody begins to run around. And guess what, these same people are praying for breakthrough. The ants, “they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter. But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep?” Prov.6:8-9. When will you wake up? Many of us are physically awake but are mentally asleep; many of us are physically strong but mentally weak. But God is challenging you and I today to wake up. So learning from the ants as the Lord tells us to, we are going to learn how to set goals and bring them to fruition. But before we even begin, we need to know and acknowledge, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1. We are starting by acknowledging God up front.
Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus I speak mental power, alertness, and strength to my brain and my mind, in Jesus Name.
