Revelation!
“When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am” John.14:3
Do not pay any attention to the people who say Jesus is not coming again. Jesus is coming again. He said it Himself in John 14. So I encourage you to study John 14 even as we continue to learn from the life of Thomas. “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 This was Jesus speaking to the disciples as He was approaching the end of His life. But before He could continue, Thomas jumped in, “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” John 14:5 [emphasis added]. Thomas is sincere to the core. However, it is this sincerity, this question that opened the door for us today. It was Thomas’ honesty that gave birth to the revelation of Jesus that is still changing the world today. Jesus could have shut him up for interrupting while He was talking about spiritual things and about heaven. But Jesus did not do that. It is amazing to see that the people around Jesus could ask Him questions and He did not get upset. It is also comforting that the people that are following Jesus are not fools. They have sharp brains. Jesus could not bamboozle them, they could ask questions and Jesus would provide answers.
Pay close attention to what happened next. At the beginning Jesus was addressing the group and when Thomas interjected, Jesus then turned all of His attention to Thomas and “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” John 14:6. If Thomas had not asked that question, we would not have known this revelation. If you do not know say you do not know. Nobody will arrest you for not knowing. Do not pretend that you know what you do not know. Jesus gave him that answer and that answer has changed the world today. Without that answer there will still be confusion if Jesus is the only way to God. Without that answer we will still be guessing. But that answer only came because Didymus asked the question. Stay true to yourself and do not act knowledgeable because people expect you to be. Do you think Jesus did not know everyone’s heart? But He only addressed the one who voiced out in sincerity.
Prayer: Father, thank You because You do not cast out those who come to You. I pray that Your truth will never be hidden from me, in Jesus Name.
