Pray Bold Prayers
“On the day the Lord gave the Israelites victory over the Amorites, Joshua prayed to the Lord in front of all the people of Israel. He said, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.” Josh.10:12
When I meet someone for the first time, while shaking the person I ask the Lord who is this person. I do it just for fun and the Lord will tell me who the person is. He is always right and it always surprises me. So I am on a flight and if I am going to be sitting beside a stranger for six to eight hours I want to know who the person is and naturally I ask the Lord.
I was on a flight once seated beside an old woman that looked really frail. So I asked the Lord who is this person and He said she is missionary. I looked at the old frail white lady and I said I probably did not hear this one properly. You have to give yourself some allowance. She was struggling with her sit belt and I helped her. And when the journey was coming to an end she needed help with a few things. If you are sitting beside an old woman you become an errand boy, at least that is how I was brought up. So I helped her do a couple of things. And at the end of the flight we got talking and she was telling me how she has been a missionary to Calabar since she was sixteen. Now she is over eighty and she is retiring and going back home to Texas. I was shaking. This woman had been serving Jesus since she was sixteen and did not have a husband. She gave her whole life to God and now she was over eighty years old. I was still in paid employment at the time. I was far from being a Pastor. The plane landed and people began to collect their belongings from the overhead compartments. And this woman held my hand and she began to pray out loud and to prophesy. She said Father use him maximally, use him to the fullest and on and on. Everybody was staring at us, I was getting conscious about the people around but this woman did not give a damn. People that know their God are bold about their prayers.
“Elisha picked up Elijah’s cloak …returned to the bank of the Jordan River. He struck the water with Elijah’s cloak and cried out, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” Then the river divided, and Elisha went across” 2 Kings 2:13-14. That is a very bold prayer. Joshua was fighting God’s battle and the sun was setting over Gibeon and Joshua said to the sun, sun stand still. And the Bible says the sun stood still – bold prayer. Jesus of course was an epitome of bold prayers. He got to the tomb of Lazarus and said Father I thank You because You always hear me. And He said Lazarus come forth and he that was dead came back to life. God is saying when you face situations in your home or perhaps your business, you need to pray bold prayers.
Prayer: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your Name. Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven [Matt.6:9-10 NKJV], in Jesus Name.
