Bold Prayers
“…at the time …of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, “Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word” 1 Kings 18:36 [NKJV]
What will happen to the world if God should answer everything on your current prayer list? For some people nothing, only that they will have a bigger house, a more expensive car, or a beautiful wife. Then what? So how do you assess the weight of your prayers? How do you know if you are praying great prayers? Ask yourself this question, what will happen to the world if God answers all your prayers now? This is not to say your prayers up until now have not been relevant but it is to challenge us to begin to pray bold prayers. Pray prayers that if God was to answer your whole community will be transformed for Jesus. Prayers that if God should answer the whole state will feel the impact of your prayers. Prayers that if Jesus should answer, the whole nation will feel the impact of your life. Prayers that if Jesus should answer the whole world will feel the impact of your life.
If you are going to make a difference in this world you have to learn two things. You have to learn to be bold about prayer and learn to pray bold prayers. Be bold about prayers, be unapologetic about prayer and pray boldly. And it starts with the little things, for example; you go to a restaurant with your wife, the usual thing you do at home is pray over every meal. But you get to the restaurant and the food is served, you want to pray but your attention shifts to the people looking at you. So what if anyone is looking at you? Just pray. I am not saying you should be a nuisance, bring out your tambourine and start a praise and worship session in the restaurant. I mean God has not sent you to do that but honor God the way you will do in your home. I learnt this lesson working with great people; people that know God are bold about their prayers. People that know God are bold about praying to their God. It is the people that do not know God that are apologetic about praying. You are not going to be obnoxious but you are going to be bold about your prayers. Not only should you be bold about prayers but also you have to pray bold prayers. Elijah prayed bold prayers; Elijah said the God that answers by fire let Him be God [1 Kings 18:25] and he called down fire. That is a bold prayer. What if the fire did not come down, what would have happened to Elijah? He would have been a dead man. But the Bible says, “Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench” 1 Kings 18:38.
Prayers: Father, I ask that You will enlarge my vision and give me great boldness in the place of prayer and in the things of God, in Jesus Name.
