In Word And In Deed!

“When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!” Matt.21:39-40

We established that serving is a three-fold call. #1. Serve the people you are with.

#2. Serve in the church you are in. Just commit to serve in church. There is a group of people that clean the church. There is another group that cleans the convenience. There is a group that is in charge of aesthetics. Another group handles content and multimedia. There is a group that ensures you have a good worship, or that you feel welcome when you go to church. There is a group that ensures that the cars are parked in order and make sure it is safe. There are some people making sure your children are engaged with the gospel. There are some people that are engaging your teenagers. You can join any one these groups in your local church and serve because saved people serve people.

#3. Join your local church family to serve the community you are in. Join the church’s outreach programs to feed the poor, cloth people, engage teenagers in the community. And the reason is because there are only two things on earth that have eternal value. And those two things are the Word of God and the souls of men. Please read Matthew 21:34-40. When we talk about the souls of men a lot of the time our minds attribute it to just spiritual things. “There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always [serving] doing kind things for others and helping the poor. About this time she became ill and died… But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby… so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!” So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them” Acts 9:36-39 [emphasis added]. There are physical things you can do for people that would touch their spiritual state. A hungry man cannot hear the gospel because he will hear his stomach first. A naked man that you have clothed will hear the gospel louder. A homeless man that you provide a home for will definitely hear the gospel louder. So our purpose as Christians will always be to share the gospel louder in Word and in deed. In God’s Favourite House we are heavy on serving the community we are in. We partner with people within and outside the church to serve our community in diverse capacities as the Lord helps us to. A lot of us have things that we will not miss but those things can change other people’s lives – in Word and in deed!

Prayer: Lord, teach my hands to truly preach Jesus in Word and in deed, in Jesus Name.
