The Fire

“If it be so, our God who we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O King. But if not, be it knows unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” Dan.3:17-18 [KJV]

You need to settle it in your heart that you will only bow your knees to God and God alone. So that no matter what you are faced with, because you have resolved in your heart to bow to God alone, that resolve comes through for you. Guess what, it is not when you face that temptation or pressure that the resolve kicks in. It has already shaped decisions you would have made in days past and in less testing circumstances. Daniel and the three Hebrew boys decided that they would not feast at the king’s table because they needed to keep their vessels holy before God.

“…But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.” Dan.3:15-18. They said the God that we serve is able to deliver us. We belong to Him, we bow to Him so we cannot bow to another god. He is able to deliver us but if He does not, because we know He is God He can choose not to, we want you to know O king that we will not bow to your idol. Throw us in the fire! We are not afraid of the fire because our God can deliver us from the fire but incase He does not, it does not affect whether He is God to us or not [Dan.3:16-18 paraphrased]. There are many people that will say God see how hot the fire is, I cannot let it burn me. You need to understand that that is not the way to go with God. Know without a doubt that when you bow to God you belong to Him. They threw them in the fire and God true to who He is, the flame did not kindle upon them. Instead of the fire to destroy them it destroyed everything that kept them bound, their chains were broken. The fire the enemy is putting you through is not going to destroy you. But rather it will destroy everything that has kept you bound. All the soldiers that took them to the furnace died on the way because of the heat. And Scripture says Nebuchadnezzar looked at the furnace and said ‘we threw three people into the furnace bound but I can see four walking freely. And the similitude of the forth is like that of the Son of God’. The fire reveals the person that has been walking with you all along that you cannot see.

Prayer [song]: You are God alone, from before time began. You are on Your throne, You are God alone. And right now in good times and bad, You are on Your throne,You are God alone. Unchangeable, Unshakable, Unstoppable, that’s who You are. Amen!
