Life Lessons

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, you will not reject” Ps.51:17

The second lesson from the life of Hezekiah is, he sought out those who will help him. In seeking those who will help him, Hezekiah did three things. He restored the Levitical priesthood [Please read 2 Chro.13:17]. He re-established the Passover [2 Chr.30:1]. And Hezekiah sought out help and counsel from Isaiah. He sat down with Isaiah and listened to the Word of God. You need to seek out people that will help you in your walk with Christ. This is why in God’s Favourite House we consistently encourage people to become part of a Life Group. One of the objectives is for you to sit around people that are in love with Jesus and be influenced by people following Jesus. Hezekiah may just have been twenty-five but he was wise enough to seek out those that will help him walk with God.

The third lesson from the life of Hezekiah is, learn how to face God on your own. When Hezekiah heard the weightiest statement in heaven and on earth issued against him, he turned his face to the wall and prayed to God [2 Kings 20:2]. Your greatest asset on earth is your relationship with God. Being in a relationship with God means you are able to go to God yourself and plead your case. And that is your greatest asset.

Your greatest asset is not the number of people that are praying for you or rather, the number of people you think are praying for you. The truth is that some of the people you think are praying for you are actually sleeping. A lady told me she was going for an interview that was totally impossible for her to pass in the physical. But she said she believed that God could do it and she just needed me to pray with her. So I agreed to do a vigil with her. We agreed on a day and time I would be praying in my house and she would be praying in her house. I am a nocturnal person, which means I am usually most awake when every other person is sleeping. But that day came and by midnight I was asleep. I did not do it deliberately. It probably was the Lord trying to teach us a lesson. The lady came back to tell me she got the job and to thank me for standing in the gap for her. I told her I slept off but the key thing was God had answered. Your greatest asset is your personal relationship with God.

Prayer [song]: Show me Your way, that I may walk with You. Show me Your way, I put my trust in You. The cry of my heart is to love You Lord, to live with the touch of Your hand. Stronger each day, show me Your way. Amen!
