Submission

Then He  spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyesJohn 9:6

The story in John 9:1-41 is a perfect reference for how to engage the Person of Jesus and deploy the principles of Jesus. From this story, the person of Jesus was engaged and the principles of Jesus were deployed for the miracle to occur and for the glory of God to be revealed. Two principles of Jesus particularly were deployed in the story, before we saw the miracle happen and the glory of God revealed. The Person of Jesus is very visible in the story but what were the two principles that were deployed? The two principles are – The Principle of Submission and The Principle of Obedience. They are two very different principles that will change your life totally as you deploy them.

The Principle of Submission: “Then He spit on the ground, made mud with the saliva, and spread the mud over the blind man’s eyesJohn 9:6. Take note, the man was blind but he was not deaf. So he could hear Jesus spitting and he probably was thinking, what is this Jesus doing? Did I just hear him spit? After his disciples have abused me, now he is spitting? But Jesus did not stop at spitting; He made mud and then spread the mud over the blind man’s eyes. Even for someone that can see, if his or her eyes are covered with mud, what happens? Even if this man had any physical chance to see, Jesus just took it out. But take note of what this man did, he submitted to that process. Now that is just amazing!

After hearing Jesus spit, many people would have said, look Jesus I am a Christian but I am not a fool. The fact that I am in church does not mean I do not have brains. What do you intend to do with the spittle Jesus? Where are you going to put it? On my face? And so we resist Jesus. Submission to Jesus may appear to worsen the situation but at the end of the day, the glory of God will be revealed. For many of us reading this today, it is as if the situation is getting worse. It is as if Jesus has just put mud on your face. You followed Jesus and it is as if this Jesus just made matters worse. Guess what? It is because He is just about to make matters good. I declare over you, the glory of God will be revealed in your life, in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Father, I declare that my life is for Your glory, in Jesus Name.
