Face It!

Then David asked the Lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the Lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” 1Sam.30:8-9

Stop and think about this portion of scripture for a minute. David had access to the oracle but see what he is asking, By God’s grace I am privileged to speak with people going through times and the question most of them ask is, “Lord, why did this happen to me”? Some demand an explanation from me about why God allowed it? Some are eager to know who they offended. Some start to list all the things they have done right [paying tithe, giving] as reasons why misfortune should not come their way.

A lot of people are asking the wrong questions. David did not bother with irrelevant questions. Stop asking the wrong questions. David only concerned himself with asking, “Lord, should I pursue”? David wanted to know, “will I over take? And will I recover all”? That is the most important thing because David pursued, he overtook and he recovered all. You will pursue, you will surely over take and you will recover all without fail. Stop fainting and stop the pity party. Stop it! “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small” Prov.24:10 [AMP]. NLT version, “If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small”. Meaning, the problem is not with the pressure, the problem is with your capacity.

The problem is never with the adversity; the problem is always with our capacity. Many times we focus too much on the adversity. A lot of the time, we do not own issues. If you faint in the day of adversity the problem is not with the adversity, the problem is with your capacity. Your strength is small – Face it! The story goes about a man who complained to God that his cross was too big. He wanted to drop it totally but God said everyone on earth carries a cross so dropping it was out of the question. So the man asked for another and so God took him to the room where the crosses were kept and each cross was larger and more complicated than the last. Finally, he saw a tiny cross in a corner and jumped at it. And God said that is the cross you have been carrying all your life.

We exaggerate our problems, we blame our parents, we blame our Country, we blame the adversity, and we blame everything. But today God wants you to own up. Face it; because the problem is not with the adversity, the problem is with your capacity. For you to be able to Stand Tall, you must first bow down before God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, please increase my capacity and multiply my strength, in Jesus Name
