Circle Check
“And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God” Lu.13:13 [emphasis added]
Maryanne Williamson says, “Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us”. If you are poor, you cannot help anybody. As a church, in God’s Favourite House, there are so many things that God is doing through us for the communities around us. But we cannot do any of these things if we were a poor church. For those of us whose parents are still alive, wouldn’t you like to buy a brand new car for your parents? It is a thing of joy but how many of us have been able to do this? The point is this, your being poor does not serve anybody. There is nothing glorifying about your being poor.
In fact, if you must shrink to fit your circle of friends, then you need to change your friends. If you cannot be boisterous and be all that you can without the people you are hanging out with always getting jealous or petty, then find another and leave them with their problem. I have no apology for being who God has called me to be – none! If you have to roughen up your hair just so that your friend will not get jealous of how beautiful you look, then it is time to kiss that friend good-bye. This may sound funny but I know someone that every time he goes home to visit his siblings, he dresses like a pauper. He would go with public transport instead of taking his car. And that is the opposite of where God has placed him.
Why do you have to keep doing that and making excuses for people that are not going anywhere? I think you should just move on with your life. Never ever, ever make excuses for not Standing Tall. I have heard it said severally that you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. I will shrink that number and say you are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Pause and think about that. Who are the three people you spend the most time with? You are the average of three of them.
Prayer: Lord, I repent for the many times I have shrunk to fit people’s mold. I receive Your grace and strength to Stand Tall and glorify You Lord, in Jesus Name.
